* STUDENTS ARE EVALUATED ON CLASS PROGRESS , MASTERY OF SKILLS, ATTENDANCE,DRESS CODE, BEHAVIOR ETC.

*THE DECISION AS TO WHICH CLASS A STUDENT WILL GO INTO IS, AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN, UP TO THE DISCRETION OF THE DIRECTOR AND INSTRUCTORS. WE WILL NOW BE USING THIS NEW EVALUATION SYSTEM, IN ADDITION TO OUR AGE DIVISIONS AS A BASIS FOR OUR DECISIONS. ALL PARENTS WILL GET A COPY OF THE EVALUATION. ACADEMICS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PLACEMENT OF A STUDENT IN CLASSES. IF A STUDENT NEEDS TO BE MOVED UP A LEVEL OR DOWN A LEVEL, THE PARENTS WILL BE NOTIFIED IMMEDIATELY.

IN ORDER FOR A CHILD TO PROGRESS AND ENJOY THEIR DANCE TRAINING AND MAINTAIN AN INTEREST, IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT PARENTS TRUST THAT WE HAVE THEIR CHILD'S BEST INTEREST AT HEART, AND SUPPORT OUR DECISIONS IN REGARDS TO THEIR ADVANCEMENT.

2011-2012 Tentative Studio Calendar

September 12th Classes Begin

SEPTEMBER ONLY- Returning students refer a friend who enrolls as a student- get $2 credit on your account for each month that they stay enrolled as a student and keep their account current. Your last name must be put into promotion code box at time of friend's registration.

October 24th thru October 27th - "DRESS UP" and "Bring a Friend" Week

November 17th - 1st 1/2 of Costume Balance Due *(seperate check from tuition made payable to "SHANNON D. SMITH/SPECIAL ACCOUNT")

November 21st-24th Thanksgiving Break- STUDIO CLOSED

December 4th(Sunday) - Studio to participate in South Hill Parade

December 12th - 15th - All Students will be measured for costumes.

December 19th- 29th - CLOSED FOR WINTER BREAK

Classes resume January 2nd

January 12th - Costume Balance Due *(seperate check from tuition)

January 16th – Studio CLOSED for MLK Day

February 10th - Recital Production Fees Due (Ind. $25, $35 for 2 or more students in family)

April 10th – Recital T-shirt Pre-order Due ( shirts are cheaper when you pre-order!) *Seperate check from installment fee please

April 9th thru 13th - Studio closed for Spring Break

May 15th - Pre-Register by May 15th and save $5 on Registration Fees!

May 28th - Studio CLOSED for Memorial Day

Registration for 2012-2013 Begins- save $80 pay for year in full by July 30th!

SAVE MONEY ON REGISTRATION FEE BY SENDING IT IN EARLY!!!!- For 2012-2013 Season Registration fee will be $35 for Indiviual or $45 for family.

2011 Recital info:

May 29th - 31st - Mandatory Rehearsals at studio and/or BHS. Times TBA

May 31st - June's Tuition Installment is due no later than Thursday, May 31st!! Recital tickets will not be handed out if June's payment is not made!

June 1st - Mandatory Dress Rehearsal at BSHS at 6:00pm students will need to be there by 5:30pm

June 2nd - Dance Recital @7:00pm at BSHS ** All students must be there no later than 6:15pm

The Recital will be held at Brunswick Senior High School in Lawrenceville, VA.

Summer Camps- depending on interest level- dates to be determined later (AIR CONDITION ON THE FRITZ DOWNSTARIS- MAKES UPSTAIRS HOTTER! BOOOOOO!)

STUDIO CLOSINGS

We follow weather closings for Mecklenburg Public Schools. To keep it simple, when they close due to weather situations, we do as well. This may seem silly at times, but it guarantees that everyone knows immediately about whether the studio is closed or not. Having to call to find out is very stressful to the parent, and also the studio owner when they have to make a decision that might be difficult, in haste. It is also difficult to contact everyone if we do have classes..so, to keep it simple, this is our policy.

WHEN MECKLENBURG PUBLIC SCHOOLS CLOSE DUE

TO WEATHER CONDITIONS, WE CLOSE AS WELL.

We do NOT close for teacher work days or holidays NOT listed in our list of closings. WE DO NOT CLOSE IF SCHOOLS CLOSE DUE TO POWER OUTAGE.

If a parent would like their child to take challenge classes or classes comparable in order to make up for missed classes, they may do so at any time! :)
